Christmas is Almost Here
Can you believe how fast this year is going? I really feel like we were all complaining about how hot the summer was and them bam…it’s October and before we know it, Christmas. If you’re a blogger, you know how important this coming holiday season can be to drive traffic to your blog. And if you’re wondering how you’re going to do that, then you need to be using Pinterest. Pinterest is the #1 traffic source to my blog, Walking on Sunshine Recipes. In fact, it’s the #2 and #3 traffic source to my blog as well.
Last fall, I took the class Pinning Perfect and it changed everything with the way I use Pinterest. In fact, before I started the class my Pinterest followers were under 4,000 and just last week, I passed 18,000 followers. I have always loved Pinterest and used it regularly for my personal use, but never thought how it could drive traffic to my blog until AFTER I took this course. I also started using Tailwind to help schedule pins from my blog onto my boards.
Start Pinning Holiday Blog Posts Now
I’ve been slowly going through my Christmas posts from last year and making sure they’re optimized for SEO and have the best keywords. I printed out this FREE Holiday Season Keyword Guide last week and it’s really helping me update my posts.
You can grab your own FREE Holiday Season Keyword Guide for over 240 “hot” words for the holiday season. Even if you don’t blog about these exact highly-searched topics, you can still use them to build ideas for your niche and drive that traffic. For example, “Fall Fashion” for someone who writes about parenting might be fine tuned to something like “Fall Fashion for Tweens.”
Update your Pin Descriptions
That’s right, go back into your Christmas posts from last year and update the pin descriptions using holiday keywords; especially the word Christmas! People are searching for Christmas gifts, Christmas cookies, Christmas decorations, so make sure you’re using the word “Christmas!”
Remember, the last three months of the year can be HUGE for your blog because people are searching for everything related to Christmas on Pinterest.
